Kiyo Aji - Paris based Japanese Fine Dining Restaurant

Kiyo Aji is an intimate and charming Kappo Sushi restaurant in Montmartre, Paris. The talented chef Kiyoharu Kinugawa, whose generous and creative cuisine and his welcoming character create an exquisite Japanese fine dining experience. 

Walking into the restaurants feels like entering the chef’s home who loves to share his knowledge and provide attentive service to every guest. Kappo means ‘to cut and to cook’, an all-encompassing word for a less formal cuisine that emphasizes the proximity between the diner and the chef who is cutting and cooking the food. The degustation style of the menu allows for a real exchange with the guests. 

Together with Tzuyin we redesigned the menu so as to offer the guests a delightful and elevated dining experience starting from the moment they receive the menu.  

We chose to create a simple yet elegant menu reflecting the Kappo atmosphere of casual yet refined cuisine. 

For the pages, we selected the high-quality japanese paper Mitsumata which has a smooth and light texture and a natural warm color. Nonetheless the paper is very robust which was an important factor for the selection.

For the cover we chose a resistant lokta paper. The night blue lokta paper is a handmade paper which has the advantage of not bubbling when glued. It is made of lokta fibers which gives it all its beauty and color shades.

The old & the new menu

The initial menu lacked coherence with the ambiance in the restaurant and did not represent the high-quality service and food offered at the establishment. 

Next to creating an aesthetically beautiful menu, the main objective was to create a menu where the pages can easily be changed. For this reason, we chose to use split pins that can easily be removed in case one of the pages needs to be replaced.
